The National #Transport Authority (NTA) has published the results of its 2024 Customer Satisfaction Survey, revealing that over 80% of respondents had a positive view of the Transport for #Ireland (TFI) network. Of these, 39% were very satisfied, and 43% fairly satisfied. Satisfaction with recent journeys was even higher, with 54% very satisfied and 38% fairly satisfied. Over 6,000 passengers took part in the survey, which found that 80% of users are happy with the reliability, cleanliness, and comfort of services. Additionally, 94% felt safe using the transport, and 90% were satisfied with value for money. The survey also showed 41% of passengers use public transport daily, and 30% use it two to four days a week. Suggestions for improvement included increased punctuality and frequency.

Since its introduction in January 2022, over 200 million free bus journeys have been made by young people in #Scotland, thanks to the Scottish Government’s initiative offering free bus travel for under-22s. The scheme helps tackle child poverty, supports climate action, and boosts the economy by increasing access to education, employment, and leisure. It has reduced travel costs for families and young adults, expanding social and employment opportunities. For 2025-26, the Scottish Government will allocate £409 million to support almost 2.3 million people with concessionary bus travel. Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for #Transport, praised the scheme for creating opportunities and saving families money, highlighting its positive impact on young people's lives, including increased access to education and frequent visits to family members.

The Transport and Logistics Bureau, alongside the #Transport Department in Hong Kong, received 27 expressions of interest (EOI) for the Smart and Green Mass #Transit System (SGMTS) project in Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen and Yuen Long South New Development Areas. Submissions came from local, Mainland, and overseas companies. The feedback will help assess system characteristics, operational capabilities, and maintenance needs. This information will inform the design, infrastructure, and financial planning for the SGMTS project. The Hong Kong government plans to invite tenders in 2026 and award the contract in 2027, with efforts to potentially shorten the project timeline based on the EOI feedback.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:
#TfL stations with TfL ticket machines where you can collect pre-paid National Rail tickets

TfL stations allowing pre-paid National Rail ticket collection from ticket machines include those on the Elizabeth Line and London Overground, such as Abbey Wood, Stratford, and Paddington. Not all stations support this due to ticket machines being linked to different systems; machines on the Tube network, like those at Canada Water, are not connected to the National Rail system.

#Mastodon tip O'the day:

Today @FediFollows listed me as a #transport pic of the day, and that generated a slew of new followers.

I always scout the profile of new followers to see if they are somehow compatible with me and my preferred feed content.

But when someone is super vague, does not even bother to write a profile, or tries to get so snarky that you have no idea what they are about, I pass.

In today's Internet culture, I only follow those who are clear in their profile.

#Infrastructure in British #India:
"Natural drainage of Bengal was disturbed due to construction of a network of #railway embankments resulting in formation of poorly drained “compartments” in different areas of Bengal. This led to excessive silting, damaged crop production, increased chance of flooding and created stagnant water pockets that were apt for water-borne diseases like cholera and malaria."
