Halloween is nearing! Twylia and Her Star Canopy is a photopainting that I wrote a short story to accompany it. Second 'page' contains the story. The story is also in the Alt Text.

I took this photo over a decade ago - I reworked it as a painting & as I did the story unfolded.

Many, many, moons ago, the rain fell every year for ten years on the night of Trick or Treating. The weather was spoiling Halloween fun. Twyla, a little witch that was forever young in heart and spirit loved Halloween and determined to stop the rain. The little witch journeyed to Jack by the Cobweb Tree to remove the curse haunting the holiday. Jack had the ability to grant one wish. The wish granted would always have some unique requirement. After traveling for many days by broomstick, Twylia found Jack. The little witch asked her wish: that Halloween would always have clear night skies with stars twinkling above. Jack declared it would be so, but she would have to give up her broomstick. In return he would give her a magical umbrella; the Star Canopy. If every year on the night of Halloween Twylia would open it and walk the evening, then Halloween would have beautiful skies with twinkling stars. Twylia agreed and her wish was granted. So now Trick or Treaters have a night of special magic walking under the stars on Halloween
