US judge orders #Trump admin to reinstate thousands of fired workers

A California federal judge on Thurs ordered 6 US #FederalAgencies to reinstate thousands of recently-hired employees who were fired as part of Trump's purge of the federal workforce.

The ruling made by US Dist Judge William Alsup in San Francisco during a hearing applies to the Departments of #Defense, #Veterans Affairs,#Agriculture, #Energy, #Interior & the #Treasury.

#Interior has suspended a #legal opinion that held companies liable for killing #ducks, #cranes, #pelicans, #owls & HUNDREDS of other #birds.

In a memo dated Feb 28…, Interior’s acting chief atty suspended EVERY legal opinion issued by the #Biden admin, including one that subjected companies to penalties for killing birds through activities such as #oil & #gas #drilling, wind #energy production, #mining or #construction.

>700 #NationalParkService employees have submitted their resignations as part of #ElonMusk’s “fork in the road” offer, acc/to an internal agency memo [so who knows the real number] that critics of the plan said would diminish staffing ahead of the busy summer tourism season.

The news of the resignations comes after a decision earlier this month at the Dept of #Interior to fire >1k full-time #NationalPark employees.

Since last week the #Interior Dept has fired at least 3k people, about ⅓ of whom worked in #NationalParks as wilderness rangers & others educating visitors, helping injured hikers, collecting entrance fees, & cleaning & maintaining the #parks. Last month, about 2k prospective seasonal park employees & others were told their job offers had been rescinded.

Confusion abounds at the #NationalParkService, which is hiring, after firing

The #NPS will hire >5,000 seasonal #ParkRangers, #Interior Secy Doug Burgum said this week, a move that comes days after he fired >1,000 full-time #park employees.

“Go apply. Apply for a job,” Burgum said in an interview Wednesday w/ #FauxNews. “We want to make sure that we’re giving a great experience for citizens at our national park system.”
