The top agent at #FBI’s #NY field office said in an email Mon that he had been forced out of his job. His departure follows clashes w/ #DOJ ofcls over #Trump admin directives.

The veteran agent, James E. Dennehy, was told to retire from leading the FBI’s largest field office, delivering another blow to the senior ranks of the FBI. Dennehy… had angered Trump admin ofcls by supporting bureau leaders who resisted turning over the names of those who investigated #Jan6.

“Top FBI official forced out after criticizing Trump pursuit of agents who investigated #Jan6

James Dennehy, the head of the FBI's New York office, is out one month after he urged colleagues to “dig in” after the new administration requested the names of all agents who worked on Capitol riot cases.”

>> If TWO #Democratic presidents (#Obama and #Biden) — both of whom knew about Trump's #Russia connections — did nothing to save us, there is really nothing left that Democrats as a political party have to offer us.

The mantra should have been "When They Go Low…" … We Go Ballistic — right from the #Obama years.

When #Biden got a chance, he had bipartisan public support after #Jan6 #insurrection.

Yet, he chose #Garland as his AG and THEN cut off his balls 😡

NBC News · Biden hopes to avoid divisive Trump investigations, preferring unityBy Carol E. Lee

🤨🤨At least seven top prosecutors inside the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia — including some involved in #Jan6 prosecutions — have been demoted to entry-level positions by the new Trump-appointed interim U.S. attorney, multiple officials told NBC News.

The Justice Department is continuing a wave of efforts to free #Jan6 defendants jailed for crimes unrelated to the attack on the Capitol.

Tongiht it's Ben Martin, who was convicted for possessing a firearm despite a criminal record for domestic violence.

But #Trump himself did not speak to that issue when he signed the proclamation issuing the #pardons, & it has left his own admin & the courts struggling to divine what was in his head…. [💩]

Asst US Atty Blackwell said the #DOJ’s understanding of Trump’s #pardon had *evolved* in recent wks — but she did not say how or why. She said this shift was the reason DOJ had moved in recent days to drop a slew of other cases against #Jan6 defendants who were on the hook for other federal #felonies.

…At the heart of the controversy is the vague language of #Trump’s mass #pardons for #Jan6 *rioters*. He granted #clemency to anyone “convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

Jan 6 defendants have repeatedly argued that the language is so broad it covers other #crimes that have nothing to do w/Jan 6 but were discovered during the vast #criminal probe stemming from the Capitol attack.

3 weeks ago, the #DOJ was emphatic: #Trump may have pardoned Kentuckian Dan Wilson for #crimes he committed at the Capitol on #Jan6, but that #pardon did not extend to his unrelated conviction for illegally storing #firearms at his home.

Then, on Tues, the US atty in DC [#EdMartin] reversed course, saying it had “received further clarity” about Trump’s true intent, which included pardoning Wilson for the #gun case. Prosecutors did not explain how they arrived at this new “clarity.”
