US produce wears out welcome with Victoria, British Columbia grocery store

The store says it has made moves to source all 380 of its fruits and vegetable from non-American growers

“Prior to all of this, one of our most popular spinach was Popeye Spinach. We used to sell 60 to 80 bags a day of that stuff,” said Innis. “In the last week that we had it, we sold two bags. That’s a message.”

‘I feel utter anger’: From Canada to Europe, a movement to boycott US goods is spreading

>>In Denmark, where there has been widespread anger over Trump’s threat to bring the autonomous territory of Greenland under US control, the largest grocery company, the Salling group, has said it will tag European-made goods with a black star to allow consumers to choose them over products made in the US.<<

As usual, all gung ho GOP here until it hurts them. Distillers here send a lot of their whiskey overseas (to point in some cases locals complain they can't get certain bottles), including to Canada. Personally, as much as I like bourbon, I will gradually switch to other whiskeys or liquor options.

Americans forget why the Boston Tea Party actually happened. They are told in schools that it was because of a tax on tea. No, it was because the East India Company had a monopoly on all the tea trade. They could demand any price they wanted and if the colonists refused to buy the tea, their ports were blockaded. The tax just added insult to injury. They were told to unload the tea or the blockade would continue, so they unloaded the tea. #BoycottTesla #BoycottUSA #boycottMusk

Since I’m boycotting Amazon this week, I finally started tackling my mending pile.

First up, socks. I’m a little embarrassed that I’ve reached the age of 50-something and I’ve never darned a sock before. Anyway, here it is, my first darned sock!

I’m going to start using the hashtag #MendDontSpend
