It is hard to believe Ultima Online was so popular that you could get 60+ players to roleplay Orc Grunts defending a fort in the middle of a fictitious forest. This was in the late 90s, before the Internet gaming boomed the way that it did.<br>
<br>
The orcs had their own in-game language they were required to use when communicating, in-game ethics and gameplay policy, all enforced by the elder Orcs in the guild. Step out of line, and your head would be on the chopping block! <br>
<br>
Their language and guild ethics would follow them into the future another 15+ years as the player orc guilds settled on different free shards.<br>

congusbongusgames<p>This week I've made a major breakthrough with <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/OpenCrystalCaves" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenCrystalCaves</span></a> - decoded the <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/CrystalCaves" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CrystalCaves</span></a> sound files, so now the game has sound!</p><p>This was a goal from day one but the reverse engineering proved tricky. It didn't help that the wiki page was misleading (the data file actually has footers, not headers).
