Aren't there extension cables for these solar panel connectors? I only find "MC4" cables, which seem to be only the connector on the receiving end but not the panell side. I need an extension for the panel side though. as 2 of the 4 panels are further away.

Do those extension cables even exist, or isn't this meant to be due to some frequency issues? Should I instead get another one of those cables with 4 connectors put them in a row if possible? (Seems to be possible?)

I'm not entirely surprised—I’ve noticed that old digital watches tend to run faster over time. I have a few vintage models from the '70s and '80s that have noticeably picked up speed with age. I always assumed this was due to the natural aging of quartz crystal oscillators, but perhaps there’s more to it than that. Could there be another factor at play?

MakerTubeJan BetaHi I'm Jan. I tinker with electronics and enjoy vintage tech, mostly computers and consoles from the 80s and 90s. I also love to tinker with elderly hifi equipment and musical instruments from time...

So, how much should I be spending on a logic analyser to look at, say, a weird PS/2 mouse's protocol, or some other vintage PC or console controller oddity? AU$8 from AliExpress? $120 on an ES-DLA-16 from Mouser? Surely I don't need an $800 Saleae box for that?

My hobby-focus seems to be swinging back to #Arduino and #Electronics stuff at the moment and I want to take full advantage of it to learn some very niche new things.

Boosts appreciated. #AskFedi

Happy with the look! 🐥 For the "standard" assembly process, they add these little rails on the sides, which you can then break off.

This is the first time I've designed my own PCB! Now I'm really excited to see whether they'll work! :O

With my first few VanSpoof prototypes assembled, I had noticed that the L78L05 was sometimes getting a little hot. Instead of knuckling down and calculating more suitable component values, I turned to the tried and tested method of Muntzing to get my power draw down.

Today's electronics project: added fan grilles to one of my PC fan Corsi Rosenthal boxes, because my (adult) son stuck his fingers in a fan this week 🙄 (no injuries) The grilles are almost as expensive as the fans. Next time I will mske them RGB fans so there is no question the fans are ON. #electronics #diy

Looks like there will be one more revision for the input board. I want to add an SPI header to it so I can add RGB LEDs to the buttons and such. Shouldn't be an issue as `SPI1` is only used by the SD card on boot which frees it up for RGB operations. I also ordered an RGB button kit from Paradise Arcade for some testing as well. #electronics #fightstick

The latest release of the #AirGradient firmware removed the code that phones home to the company servers even when you check the to to explicitly tell it not to do so. This is a big win for #privacy and #SelfHosting!

I plan on flashing this onto my device and testing it to verify nothing was missed. #tcpdump and #wireshark are my friends. 😄

Today was one of those physics lessons which completely escalated in a fun and spontaneous way when students demanded (at the end of a long arduous unit on induction and electric/magnetic fields) that they want to 'transmit something'

So I took our pedagogical electronics system and let them slam together a meissner oscillator from the students manual, and pimped it to run at 400k instead of 400 ;).
Whatever leaked from that to my SDR we put on the big screen. Supply voltage was modulated by an audio amp in series and voila ;-) a lot of fun was had

Let me emphasize for legal reasons that this is not a transmitter. It is an oscillator whose electric field can be picked up a few meters away.

Audio heard is the received signal decoded in the Airspy software.
