Ben Bloodworth<p>A PM once told me to “not let perfect be the enemy of good enough”, and their appending of “enough” to the end of that well-known proverb is the reason companies need UX designers.</p><p>There is an ocean of difference between “good” and “good enough”.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/design" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>design</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/UX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UX</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/UXdesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UXdesign</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/ProductDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProductDesign</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.party/tags/AppDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AppDesign</span></a></p>

Cheryl Platz :verified:<p>LIVE on Twitch 10AM PT - 1PM PT: My book is in draft! My camera broke! Civ VII has a terrible save system! Let's talk ... everything. As always, this is a great chance to bring any <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/UXDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UXDesign</span></a> or <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/gameDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gameDev</span></a> questions that you'd like to ask me! <a href="https://twitch.tv/funnygodmother" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">twitch.tv/funnygodmother</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Brian Sletten<p>It seems likely that these standardized interfaces will start with specific use cases and then generalize to industries before something more potentially universal.</p><p>We’ll need standard data models, API descriptions, decentralized authorization strategies and more.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/technology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>technology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ai" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ai</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/robots" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>robots</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/uxdesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>uxdesign</span></a></p>
Brian Sletten<p>I understand the demonstrative value of the knob-turning dexterity, but I question whether that makes any sense beyond the early days of adoption. Robots and humans will both need to interact with the same affordances, but as we head down this path, I’d wager we’ll see more standardized interfaces a la R2-D2 interacting with ships, doors, computers, etc.</p><p> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/technology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>technology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ai" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ai</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/robots" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>robots</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/uxdesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>uxdesign</span></a></p>

No need for me to ask you about it, I’d rather just observe your process.</p><p>- Getting insight into the industry right away while my knowledge is still fresh, rather than spend the first 6 months after graduation applying for jobs (and be competing with people with much more experience for those same jobs)</p><p>- learning workflows as they are in real life, in all of their imperfections, and how experienced UXers approach problems</p>
Cari<p>Self-employed web/visual/UX designers of fedi, what is the name of your business? How did you decide on it? How do you prioritize things like brevity, ease of pronunciation, domain availability, social media availability, and so on? Cassidy James :eos: :gg: :fh:<p>I have some physical UX/design books that I'm getting rid of; I've had them for years and honestly just never reference them anymore.
