“No #democracy movement has ever failed when it was able to mobilize at least 3.5 % of the population to #protest over a sustained period At that scale, most soldiers have no desire to suppress protesters. Why? Because the crowd includes family members, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. With a population of 327 million, the U.S. would need to mobilize about 11.5 million people to assert popular, democratic power on the government.”

Big ThinkTo overthrow a tyrant, try the 3.5 Percent SolutionA study of 323 uprisings against repressive regimes yields stunning insights.

There are SO MANY protests taking place in Washington DC these days, but I haven't heard of any that are specifically in opposition to the United States interfering with the sovereignty of Canada, Greenland, and/or Panama. I feel compelled to publicly express strong opposition to the idea of our government invading, annexing, or threatening countries that have done nothing to harm us. Does anyone in Washington DC know of any suitable protests?

UPDATE: Musk attacks Musk Watch
muskwatch.com/p/update-musk-at

"the Musk Watch #DOGE Tracker... authoritatively demonstrated that #ElonMusk had been grossly overstating the cuts implemented by DOGE...

#Musk offered no actual critique of the Musk Watch DOGE Tracker's methodology...

Musk Watch is a four-person team, but we can rock the boat of the wealthiest and most powerful man in the world."

My latest: Last year, I covered the chaos as a peaceful protest for #Palestine at the University of Texas at #Austin was attacked by state troopers and local police. Unknown to me, a respected UT professor I'd interviewed for other stories was also there, and was about to have an encounter with cops that would cost him his career.

Today, Austin Free Press is releasing video from that incident showing the trooper deliberately shoving him multiple times. austinfreepress.org/days-of-ra

Trump's Tesla PR campaign just made an ominous turn:

'Trump floats labeling Tesla dealership protesters 'domestic terrorists'

"If you storm the Capitol and kill police officers you’re a patriot.

But if you protest Tesla dealerships you’re a domestic terrorist."
-Capt Obvious

If Trump declares that protesters are domestic terrorists...

🚨 The UK Crime and Policing Bill will create a vast facial recognition database of over 55 million driving licences and ban face coverings at protest 👁️

This would be the biggest biometric database ever created in the UK for policing.

With other rights groups, we're telling politicians to stop the expansion of police surveillance powers 🚫

#SafetyNotSurveillance

As Liberty have pointed out, yesterday Labour revived a Tory policy as part of the new Crime & Policing Bill; there is a revival of the attempt to ban face-coverings at protests, which, would seem to me, to be a classic case of a technological shift driving policy.

In the past, the police would have to identify a 'person of interest' catch them & ask them to remove their mask, now with facial recognition technology they need to forbid mask wearing.
