This is my last night in #RapidCity - tomorrow morning it's up early to head back to Gracie and Niko and the dude.
Today was good, the conf wrapped up well, but the only animal I saw was a brontosaurus* on the horizon.
In case you can't find him in the big terrible picture, I've screencapped the inset with the bronto below.
*sic. They're not called that anymore, right?
Missing Pet Dinosaur Metal Sign.

All shot using real figures, lighting, miniatures and cotton wool for snow.
No Raptors were harmed in the making of this photo.
New review: Uncovering Dinosaur Behavior is a concise, well-structured, and beautifully illustrated book that transcends being "merely" good popular science by also addressing professional palaeontologists.

And I wrote this very silly poem about why Ankylosaurus is the best dinosaur:
"I don't control the Raptors. It's a relationship. It's based on mutual respect."

In 2021 I created a bunch of paintings for the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, USA. I painted four murals and three illustrations for graphics boards. Here's one of the illustrations featuring the ichthyosaur Baptanodon.

“One of the earliest carnivores, we now know that Dilophosaurus is actually poisonous, spitting its venom at its prey, causing blindness and eventually paralysis, allowing the carnivore to eat at its leisure. This makes Dilophosaurus a beautiful, but deadly, addition to Jurassic Park.”

#Spinosaurus living up to its name - elongate neural spine on a distal caudal vertebra.
*Drumroll*... review #500! The Future of Dinosaurs is a fresh take on pop-palaeo that flips the script by charting the limits of our knowledge.

T-Rex is closer to us in time, than to Stegosaurus.
Stegosaurus: c. 152-145 million years ago.
Tyrannosaurus-Rex: c. 68-66 million years ago.
Review #500 is in preparation... coming soon to https://inquisitivebiologist.com

Dinosaur extinction led to plants with larger seeds and fruit (free to read) | It's suggested that the extinction of the dinosaurs, & later the Pleistocene megafauna, created a darker forest subcanopy benefiting large-seeded plants
