#Australian #Architecture nerds, is there a name / period / phrase for this era / style of house construction - featuring heavy timber exposed frames, with round tree trunk log posts, and then usually sawn beams. These houses were nearly always a million shades of brown, and would have high sarking board ceilings. There's a lot of these for sale now, all painted white and attempting to be Modernist, despite the tension of trying to hide the truth to materials of the rustic construction.

For my special Halloween edition of Fish Friday, Fish of Nightmares.

First up, the Viper Fish. From the Guardian, "The charismatic Viperfish ; Deep-sea viperfish have fangs so big they don’t fit inside their mouth, but they interlock in front of their jaws forming an inescapable, glassy cage" says Yi-Kai Tea, a fish expert from the Australian Museum in Sydney.

You can tell the expert cited is #Australian as only an #Aussie would describe this monstrosity as "Charismatic".
