rewatched a few of my #FilmsIn2022 this weekend!
–th4r still isn’t ragnarok but the kicking it got had way more to do with taika waititi backlash bandwagoning than people would care to admit, and I honestly don’t feel the much-complained-about tonal whiplash here

–venom movies should just be 95% tom hardy I don’t know why they bother with things like other characters & a plot

Christian Bale is one of our greatest living actors and I desperately need him to do more batshit roles like this where he can just let go and ham it up while relying on his natural gravitas to keep everything grounded

lots of other superheroes go through loss/trauma and thor is actually a good example who’s lost as much as this spider-man, but thor is a thousand-year-old demigod and peter parker is a literal child. to take absolutely everything away from him to the point where he *couldn’t even graduate high school* just feels so bleak and incompatible to the fun with genuine heart that has defined what “spider-man in the mcu” means. (1/2)
and the fact that it’s all in service of getting to a recognizable (one could say well-trodden! tired! boring!) spider-man that conveniently can also be plucked right out of the mcu if sony decides to take their toy back is just garbage on top.
